The Clifton Park lounge bar opens its doors at noon for the very last time on Saturday May 26th.
Time ladies and gentlemen please, will be called for the very last time and the Clifton Park lounge bar will cease trading after nearly 50 years.
The lounge bar has a special place in the hearts of many of our members, so if you would like to enjoy a final pint, glass of wine or Jager bomb and reminisce a little why not join us on 26th and help us to literally drink the bar dry!!!
If you, like so many have shared the highs and lows, celebrations and commiserations, remember seeing England win the Rugby World Cup or the England Cricket team win the Ashes and our own Cricket, Rugby, Squash & Tennis teams win their own local leagues, then don’t miss the last chance to “climb sunshine mountain” or “sing in the rain” and be part of what I am sure will be a fantastic night and a fond farewell to our favourite watering hole.
If you can’t make the 26th then why not pop in for a last visit any time before the doors close. However, as the saying goes, “as one door closes another one opens” and our new bar is on schedule to open on June 16th and the start of a whole new era begins!!!

The £200 1st quarter Prize Winner of the York Sports Club 200 Club is John Farbrother.
The 200 Club can be joined at any point in the year for £40 a number, this gives you entry to the remaining quarterly £200 prize draws and 2 x £1000 draws at Christmas.

YORK SQUASH RACKETS CLUB – NOTICE OF AGM
In the new function room on Wednesday 23rd May 2012 at 7:30pm.
Nominations to the Committee are welcomed. Each nominee must be proposed and seconded by club members in writing to the Secretary, Marc (marc.thomas@yorksquashclub.co.uk), by Wednesday 16 May 2012.
Items for discussion at the AGM, in addition to those given below, are also welcome. These must be sent to the Marc in writing (or by leaving a message on the noticeboard) by Wednesday 9 May 2012.

York Sports Club are delighted to announce that we will be holding our Midsummers Ball on the eve of Saturday 23rd June 2012.
The evening will commence at 6.30pm. On arrival, while guests enjoy their champagne and canapes, there will be plenty to entertain including a casino, professional photographer and jugglers. Dinner will be served at 8.15pm in the main function room. After dinner, guests will be able to enjoy a further chance at winning on the casino and dancing until the early hours. There will be a live band from 11pm and a disco until 2am.

The Annual General Meeting of the York Sports Club (the umbrella organisation covering the Cricket, Rugby, Tennis and Squash clubs) will be held on Wednesday 18th April at 7:30pm in the clubhouse. More details are on the York Sports Club website.
The Squash Club AGM will be held in May. More details to follow.

New minileagues for Feb-April 2012 are out. These will run for the next 5 weeks – end date April 6th.
We welcome a record number of new entrants this month and now have 17 Divisions (Premier + 1 – 16) with 90 members currently in the minileagues.

Want to try something new? Ladies racketball sessions start on Sunday 4th March from 4:00-5:00pm for 5 weeks.
Racketball is
• Easier than squash
• Uses a bigger, bouncier ball
• Suitable for all levels of fitness
