Our junior coaching sessions are run by our club coach Ian Woodhead. Ian is an England Squash and Racketball Level 3 coach. Ian is assisted by Colin Noble and Mark Read who are ESR licenced coaches.
We run open sessions for juniors from the age of 7 up – all standards. These take place on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:00pm-6:00pm during school term time.
Please let Ian, Colin or Mark know if you wish to attend by emailing juniors@yorksquashclub.co.uk or calling 07966 072048 (Ian), 07787 702944 (Colin).
Juniors are encouraged to take part in one of the clubs mini-leagues which are competitive, good fun and cater for all levels, to attend our club night and to book their own matches via the court booking system.
We require that juniors wear approved squash eye protection at all times when on court at York Squash Club. This is in line with ESR recommendations.
Child Protection Policy Statement
York Squash Club is committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for children and young people to practice Squash and Racketball.
We do this by:
- Recognising that all children have the right to freedom from abuse.
- Ensuring that all our staff and volunteers are carefully selected and accept responsibility for helping to prevent the abuse of children in their care.
- Responding swiftly and appropriately to all suspicions or allegations of abuse, by providing parents and children with the opportunity to voice any concerns they may have.
- Appointing a child welfare officer who will take specific responsibility for child safety and act as the main point of contact for parents, children and outside agencies.
- Ensuring access to confidential information is restricted to the Child Welfare Officer or the appropriate external authorities.
- Reviewing the effectiveness of the Child Protection Policy and activities each year at the Annual General Meeting.
Our Child Welfare Officer is Marc Thomas. Telephone: 07880 746336.
